About Type One Clothing

Type One Clothing is the vision of Zoey Stevens (right) and Dereck Cruz (below). Zoey is an acclaimed artist and type one diabetic who works closely with the JDRF to raise the awareness of type one diabetes. By volunteering his time and talents, Zoey has helped to personally raise over $500,000 for a cure. Dereck Cruz is the father of a type one diabetic and founder of RADARWORLDWIDE, a website dedicated to Raising the Awareness of Diabetes through Art and Rock. Together their desire is to bring you clothing and products that cater not just to the diabetic lifestyle, but rather any lifestyle.

The pair first met in 2007 when Zoey came to Dereck for reproductions of some of his original artwork. A conversation was struck and it was found that the two not only had type one diabetes in common, but also a passion for raising the awareness of the disease. At the time Dereck was searching for 'diabetes art' for his website and Zoey was on a nationwide art campaign for the JDRF. A short time after this first meeting Zoey sent Dereck an image that would eventually become the face of TypeOneClothing.

In the short term, Type One Clothing hopes to use its apparel and art to help empower those coping with the day to day struggles, while creating a community where successes and setbacks can be shared with others also suffering from the disease. In the long term, Type One Clothing is determined to raise the overall awareness about the disease, its effects, and its many champions, while continually raising money to fund research for a cure.
